Why are my child's baby teeth important?

Baby teeth are vital because they support your child’s healthy development and act as placeholders for their adult teeth.

Considering these things, their teeth should be looked after as permanent, even though they will eventually fall out. The idea is that they should loosen and come out on schedule.

Baby teeth also contribute to jawbone growth and development. Poor development may impact the look and structure of your child’s face as well as their smile when their adult teeth start to erupt.

We recommend your child see the dentist around the age of three or four. This allows us to check on the integrity of their emerging baby teeth and make sure everything is developing on schedule. Your child’s dentist in Lower Templestowe can also provide tips for home care, including proper brushing techniques and even share nutrition information.

As your child’s oral health changes, we will always be here to answer your questions, share advice and care for their smile.
