Dental Implants
If you have missing teeth, it may make chewing and speaking difficult, but it can also contribute to oral health issues. At Lower Templestowe Dental Excellence, we provide a range of options, but the dental implant is considered the gold standard by many dentists and for a good reason.
Dental Implants
Tooth loss can contribute to function difficulties as well as aesthetic issues. Dental implants may be an excellent solution to these problems because they are the only tooth replacement available that restores your lost tooth and its root.
For our patients who have full or sporadic tooth loss, we also offer implant-supported prosthetics like bridges and dentures.
The Dental Implant Process
Dr Mini Li, along with our Lower Templestowe dentists, have decades of experience restoring smiles. We always provide a full assessment to make sure dental implants are a viable option for you. When deciding, your dentist considers your smile goals, the integrity of your jawbone and even, in some cases, the positioning of your sinus. Occasionally, pre-treatments like sinus lifts or bone grafting may be arranged to bring you into candidacy for dental implants.
The process itself is a surgical procedure that finds your dentist implanting tooth replacement roots into your jawbone. For this surgery, we always take steps to make sure you’re fully relaxed. Besides local anaesthesia, our dentists offer sedation dentistry if you require a little extra to put you at ease.
After your replacement roots integrate with your jawbone, we cap them with a dental crown or a prosthetic arch of replacement teeth to complete your smile. Typically, it takes a single dental implant to secure a bridge and four to six to attach a denture.
Dental implants offer a permanent and stable solution to tooth loss.
Taking Care of Dental Implants
Dental implants closely mimic natural teeth in so many ways, including the care required. Just like with natural teeth, it’s important to brush and floss at least twice daily and visit your Lower Templestowe implant dentist on schedule for check-ups and teeth cleans.
Even if you have an implant-supported denture, visiting your dentist on schedule is crucial to your long-term oral health because it lowers your risks for oral infections and gum disease, both of which can lead to implant complications. During your routine check-up, your dentist will also check in on your implants to ensure all is well.

Dental Implants Technology
Cone Beam CT (CBCT)
This magnificent piece of medical diagnosing equipment is the star of the show when it comes to planning for Orthodontic work, Implants and Extractions.
A cone beam radiograph is a type of X-ray beam which captures an image by rotating around the patient’s head. A computer then uses this data to produce high resolution, three-dimensional or cross-sectional images of the teeth, upper and lower jaw bone, and surrounding anatomy in a matter of minutes. The images can then be viewed on a computer screen.
It is quick, non-invasive and delivers precise results which can all be done during your dental appointment.
